Gentlemen From Hell: Men of the 487th Bomb Group, is the first book for author C.C. Neal, a native of North Carolina. Neal is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is the daughter of 487th veteran Tommy Craig.
Neal resides in Concord, North Carolina with her husband. The author has two children and a granddaughter.
With the passing of her father in 1998, the author began attending Eighth Air Force and 487th Bomb Group reunions with her family on his behalf. The vivid accounts and the everlasting friendships with these men and their families have inspired her over the years to write this book.
The books is a compilation of the personal accounts of the men who served the 487th Bomb Group during World War II. These accounts exemplify the hard work, dedication and sacrifice these men provided their country in the face of great danger, including serving as the leaders of largest Eighth Air Force mission of the ware during the Battle of the Bulge.
Half the proceeds from this book will go to the Men of the 487th Bomb Group treasury, to preserve their memory.
The book was first made available at the 487th reunion from 19-23/Oct 2005 in San Diego, CA.
