Snake Bit - #43-38042 B-17 of the 839th Squadron
On 23-Mar-45, with Lt. Richard Althouse piloting the aircraft, a following aircraft, evidently from the 34th Bomb Group, chewed into his rudder. He was able to maintain control and land the plane safely.
Note: there is also evidence that the plane may have been named "Snake Bite"
